4 Days unforgettable adventure exploring the captivating Zagori region, one of the most picturesque areas in Greece. Immerse yourself in the beauty of traditional stone villages, breathtaking mountain views, and a stunning natural environment. Preserved from the outside world until recently, Zagori exudes a sense of authenticity and tranquility, adorned with lush forests, deep gorges, and crystalline blue rivers. Discover this hidden gem off the beaten path during our Active & Culture Tour Zagori, where you’ll experience hiking in pristine nature, exploring charming villages, savoring delicious meals, paddling down the roaring Voidomatis River, and venturing into the awe-inspiring Vikos Gorge, one of Greece’s most stunning gorges.

The Zagori region is home to 44 traditional villages, each with its unique charm and character. As you traverse the interconnected footpaths that wind through the folds of mountains, you’ll be enchanted by the beauty of the stone villages nestled within the landscape. The cool breeze that drifts through the tree-shaded gorge allows for year-round hiking, with Maples, beech, fig, and oak trees along Greek National Trail #03 providing a kaleidoscope of colors and natural splendor.

In the well-preserved villages of Zagori, you’ll find traditional guesthouses offering warm hospitality and mouthwatering meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Activities / Schedule:

Day 1: Arrival in Zagori

Your tour begins in Ioannina, where you can fly from Athens or arrive by road from the closest airports (Corfu, Preveza, and Thessaloniki). Your guide will greet you and transfer you to the village where you will spend the night.

Overnight in Aristi village.

Day 2: Bridges & Villages Hike

Embark on a captivating circular hike that reveals the hidden gems of Central Zagori. Starting from Vitsa village, you’ll visit iconic traditional villages such as Vitsa, Koukouli, Kipi, and Dilofo. The hike showcases the arched stone bridges that once served as the lifeline connecting the villages before the advent of roads.

Overnight in Aristi village.

Day 3: Vikos Gorge Crossing

Begin your hike in Monodendri village and enter the majestic Vikos Gorge after a 45-minute walk. Traverse the gorge for approximately 4 hours until you reach the springs of Voidomatis, and then continue for another hour until you reach the village of Vikos. The 20 km long gorge, with 12 km belonging to the Vikos-Aoos National Park, presents a diverse landscape characterized by steep slopes and precipitous rocky cliffs shaped over millions of years by the Voidomatis River.

Overnight in Aristi village.

Day 4: Rafting Voidomatis & Departure

Conclude your adventure with a serene rafting descent in the crystal-clear waters of the Voidomatis River, located in the heart of the Vikos-Aoos National Park. As you glide along the waterway adorned with age-old plane trees and traditional stone bridges, you’ll be immersed in the tranquility of the surroundings. After this exhilarating experience, we’ll transfer you back to your pick-up point to continue your journey.

What to Bring

  • Large, comfortable rucksack (40 – 50 liters) with padded straps and waist belt, internal frame preferred; waterproof liner recommended keeping clothing, etc. dry inside

  • Sturdy, worn in trekking shoes

  • Good waterproof top with hood

  • Warm clothes, both for windy / cold daytime conditions and for the cool evenings (fleece tops or similar)

  • Shorts and long trousers for walking, preferably quick-drying material (cotton or poly-cotton not denim)

  • Sweatshirts or T-shirts for walking, at least one with long sleeves and collar (against sunburn)

  • Sunglasses, towel, sun hat or cap, sun block

  • Swimsuit, towel

  • Your own personal water bottle

  • Wash bag and simple first aid kit (plasters or blister kit, aspirin or similar, antiseptic)

  • Photographers: bring your cameras


  • Accommodation in double rooms on B/B basis in guesthouses or hotels (3 nights)

  • The trekking and rafting activities as mentioned in the program (activities may vary dependent on season)

  • Transfers Ioannina Airport to Aristi

  • Transfer Aristi to start of Bridges & Villages hike and return

  • Transfer Aristi to Monodendri – start Vikos and from end of hike to Aristi

  • Transfer Aristi to Kleidonia and after rafting to airport

  • Whenever you cancel 4 days or earlier than the confirmed activity starting date, your fee will be refunded for the entire activity charge.
  • In case of cancellation within 48 and 96 hours before the scheduled activity starting date, you'll get 50% reimbursed.
  • Those who cancel 48 hours or beyond are considered last-minute cancellations. There will be no refunds
