Full description

The Gkoura spring, situated in Mt. Parnitha, features a picturesque stream known as the Gkoura stream, which possesses a captivating charm. Adorned with lush vegetation, its primary section begins from Pan’s cave and extends all the way to the Monastery of Kleiston in Fyli. Typically, the stream maintains a sufficient water flow, creating natural pools suitable for swimming. However, during the summer, water becomes scarce, and in some months, it may even run dry. With a total of 16 waterfalls, Gkoura gorge offers an enjoyable experience for people of all skill levels.

Gkoura gorge provides an opportunity for both river trekking and hiking, thanks to its considerable length of 4.5 km. During the spring season, abundant flowing water enhances the gorge’s appeal, making it an ideal location for jumping and sliding on natural platforms. It’s worth noting that Gkoura holds historical significance for canyoning enthusiasts, possibly being one of the earliest canyoning descents in Greece.

The hike to reach the gorge’s entrance will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Upon arrival, there will be a beginner’s lesson lasting about twenty minutes.
