An unforgettable hiking adventure as we begin this activity with a comfortable vehicle transfer to the charming village of “Asim Zeneli.” Prepare to traverse a path of medium difficulty that takes you through a scenic pedestrian road. The journey begins with a descent to the stream east of the village before ascending to the hill of Antigone. Immerse yourself in the soft and sprawling Mediterranean shrubland that blankets the terrain, as the captivating walk lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

As you enter the magnificent Antigone Park from the west, you’ll be greeted by the awe-inspiring agora of the ancient city, which was constructed in 295 BC. Built by King Piro of Epirus in honor of his wife, Antigone, this historical site was discovered in the 1970s. Although only about 7% of the city’s ruins have been unearthed thus far, the journey inside Antigone Park will lead you to the paleo-Christian mosaic from the 5th century, delicately preserved on the floor of an ancient stone basilica. Delve into a detailed description of the archaeological finds and ruins within the artisan neighborhood, where you’ll gain insight into the social status and daily life of the inhabitants of Antigone. Concluding the visit, we’ll continue our exploration towards the acropolis of the ancient city, taking in the panoramic views of the valley along the way. Allow approximately an hour to relax and soak in the ambiance of the park’s enchanting surroundings.

The return route guides us through the path of the village of Epirot, nestled at the foot of the medieval village of Tranoshishtë. The descent, ranging from low to medium difficulty, boasts dramatic fractures and scattered beauty. Along the trail, you’ll encounter one of the region’s most significant water sources, accompanied by a pastoral atmosphere and the gentle presence of small herds, regardless of the season.

Upon returning to the village of “Asim Zeneli,” we’ll pause for a delightful picnic lunch in the welcoming courtyard of a local family. Indulge in traditional delicacies, such as area sachet roasted in handmade craftsmanship, pickles, and grape brandy, further enriching your outdoor adventure, which seamlessly intertwines time and history.
