Embark on a captivating hiking adventure in Epirus, Greece, exploring the scenic beauty of Zagori. This hiking trail, suitable for all seasons, takes you through a network of traditional footpaths that once connected the 46 villages of the region. Starting from the historic village of Kipi, known for its former role as a local government center, you’ll traverse several iconic stone bridges that date back to the 17th-18th century, each bearing the name of the generous benefactor who sponsored its construction.
Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Lazaridi’s Museum, nestled in the picturesque village of Koukouli. Housed in the home of its founder, Kostas Lazaridis, the museum showcases a remarkable collection of rare flora found in the Vikos Gorge. Discover the unique plant species that thrive on the canyon’s rugged cliffs and learn about the “Doctors of Vikos,” the local healers who relied on these plants for medicinal purposes.
