A total area of 20 square kilometers is covered by Ioannina Lake, also known as Pamvotida Lake, which is located at an average depth of 4-5 meters, reaching a maximum depth of 11 meters. This scenic lake sits 483 meters above sea level and is surrounded by lush flora. Discover the thriving ecosystem where eels and crayfish live among the shimmering waters reflecting the majestic Epirus mountains. Pamvotida Lake is a generous provider, abundantly supporting the surrounding flora and fauna.
The lake area is a protected nature reserve providing a sanctuary for outdoor activities lovers. Nestled in its midst lies the isle of Ioannina, inhabited by a small community of 350 residents. Commencing at the premises of Limnopoula of Ioannina, our route seamlessly navigates across the expanse of Pamvotida Lake. Embarking on our Kayaks, we have the pleasure of observing the rare avian species concealed within the lake’s wetlands, all while reveling in the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
On the isle of Ioannina, we will enjoy a captivating stop during our journey. Furthermore, rock climbing is available on-site for adventurous souls. In particular, we’ll visit Saint Panteleimonas Monastery, the site of Ali Pasas’ death in 1822. It’s an interesting landmark that adds a touch of intrigue to our kayaking trip.
