The tour commences with a leisurely stroll through the historic center of the bazaar, as well as two neighborhoods where traces of Italian culture still linger today. The influence of Italian architecture during the early 20th century played a pivotal role in modernizing the city’s merchant dwellings. As you explore, you will encounter buildings and structures that exemplify this architectural influence. Along the way, you will be introduced to fascinating characters such as the esteemed architect Vitaliano Poselli, who resided and worked in Gjirokastra during the 1930s. Prepare to be amazed by his remarkable journey in Albania and the impact he left behind.

The second part of the tour offers a moment of relaxation as you enjoy a coffee break in our premises located within the historic bazaar. Here, your guide will provide a detailed presentation showcasing historical photographs from that era, as well as evidence collected from both Italian and Albanian archives. The presentation will include intriguing facts about the Italian military garrison of Gërhot, the largest in the Balkans, which housed and accommodated approximately 12,000 Italian soldiers for several years. To enhance the ambience, the air will be filled with the captivating melodies of Italian music from the 1930s and 1940s.
