The Mytikas (Olympus mountain) Summit, located in the northeast of the country in the region of Thessaly about 100 km (60 miles) south west of the city of Thessaloniki, offers an exhilarating adventure for outdoor enthusiasts. Ascending to its peak requires determination and physical endurance.
To begin the journey, climbers must traverse through rugged terrains, encountering rocky slopes and steep paths along the way. The ascent demands careful navigation, as climbers navigate through narrow ridges and treacherous crevices. as they ascend higher, the air becomes thinner, adding to the challenge. We will gather at 08:00 to commence our journey towards the majestic Mount Olympus. Our route will lead us to the highest point on the south side of the mountain, amidst a captivating and rugged landscape, reaching an elevation of 2,400m at the captivating spot known as Christakis. Here, we will take a well-deserved break and meticulously prepare our personal and climbing equipment for the ultimate challenge of summiting Mytikas.
The trail we will follow is well-marked and will guide us for approximately one hour until we reach Skala, where we will make our final preparations for the exhilarating ascent.
It’s important to note that this route presents a demanding and highly challenging climb, as we will encounter sections where climbing skills are necessary. However, the rewards are immeasurable. Upon reaching the pinnacle of “Pantheon” Mytikas at 2918m, we will have the opportunity to leave our mark in the mountaineer’s book and savor a well-deserved rest before beginning our descent.
