A thrilling sea kayaking adventure in Crete, where you can explore mesmerizing sea caves, dive into crystal clear waters, and find perfect spots for snorkeling. Located just an hour’s drive from Rethymno and Heraklion, this trip is easily accessible for those staying in or near these cities.
Paddling Distance and Options:
Choose from various routes based on your skill level and preferences. We offer paddling options to the west or southeast, ranging from 15 to 21 kilometers. For experienced paddlers at the 4-star level, an open crossing to the enchanting Paksimadia islands (37 kilometers in total) is available. Our expert guides plan the exact route based on participants’ abilities and the weather forecast.
Top-of-the-Line Equipment:
Select either single or tandem (double) kayaks for your adventure. If you have no prior experience, we recommend using a tandem kayak, as they are easier to paddle. Experienced paddlers have access to exceptional kayaks from renowned brands like Nigel Dennis, Valley, North Shore, P&H, and 3kymia. We prioritize the use of composite kayaks during our trips to ensure the best experience for our guests.
Exciting Trip Itinerary:
Our carefully chosen route provides excellent protection from north winds typically present during the summer. However, when the wind comes from the west, it adds an exciting element to the journey. This trip caters to all skill levels, making it suitable for everyone.
During a brief introductory session, we cover the basics of paddling for those without prior experience. From the starting point, we have multiple paddling routes to choose from. Swimming and snorkeling are absolute musts, as you’ll be amazed by the mesmerizing colors of the water—a crystal-clear blend of green and blue with up to 25 meters of visibility. It’s like swimming in a vast swimming pool!
For lunch, you can either savor delicious meals at a local taverna with great food and affordable prices or bring your own packed lunch. If you opt for the open crossing, remember to pack your lunch, as there are no amenities available on the islands.
We pick up clients from Heraklion and any other location as long as it is on our way to Agia Galini. If you need transfer and you are not sure get in touch with us. Remember to send us the exact location of your hotel, not just the name. Transport is provided for free.
If you don’t want to have lunch in the taverna be sure you pack your lunch.
Water ,Sunglasses, Hat, Sunscreen, Swimsuit, Lycra shirt or any t-shirt ideally with UV protection.
You will also need shoes that you do not mind getting soaked as you will get your feet wet.
Ideally a light neoprene shoe will work great.
It is not required to wear shoes but they will help as the majority of the beaches are with small pebbles.
