Embark on an unforgettable kayaking adventure in Kaloi Limenes, Crete. Depending on the group’s experience and weather conditions, this trip offers two enticing routes: a captivating journey towards cape Lithino & Matala village in the west or an enchanting exploration towards the picturesque fishing village of Lentas in the east. Along the way, you’ll have ample opportunities to indulge in swimming and snorkeling delights. Located approximately an hour’s drive from Heraklion and just half an hour from Matala and Agia Galini, it’s easily accessible to those staying nearby.

Trip Highlights:

This excursion caters to all skill levels. For groups with limited or no experience, the eastern route is recommended, providing a more sheltered environment with fewer winds and waves. On the western coast, expect a dramatic landscape adorned with towering cliffs reaching over 400 meters, secluded beaches, and mesmerizing caves and rock arches. The paddling distance can range from 12 km to 20 km, making it a must-do adventure for those with advanced skills approaching 4* proficiency (according to British Canoeing standards).

If the eastern route is chosen, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the historic village of Lentas. This ancient settlement boasts a rich past, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Neolithic and Early Minoan periods (3rd millennium BC). Situated within the North African climatic zone, Lentas basks in an abundance of sunny days and high temperatures during the summer. Historically, Lentas served as a sanitarium for affluent Romans, particularly those hailing from North Africa. Patients would undergo treatment involving a mineral water diet sourced from an ancient spring near the temple of Asklepios, renowned for its therapeutic properties. Additionally, the region offers delectable local fruits such as melons and watermelons, a true culinary delight.

This captivating sea kayak tour is available throughout the year, except for the windy months of July and August when the area experiences stronger winds.

Transportation is provided for clients from Heraklion. In some cases, arrangements can be made to accommodate pickups from other locations along the way. What to Bring

• Water ,Sunglasses, Hat, Sunscreen, Swimsuit, Lycra shirt or any t-shirt ideally with UV protection

• You will also need shoes that you do not mind getting soaked as you will get your feet wet.

• Ideally a light neoprene shoe will work great.

• It is not required to wear shoes but they will help as the majority of the beaches are with small pebbles.
