Trip Plan:
Starting from Milatos village and concluding near Elounda, this tour takes you past Spinalonga island, which historically served as a leper colony from 1903 to 1957. The trip is suitable for individuals staying in various locations in the north Heraklion region, including Chersonissos, Malia, Stalis, Sissi, Anissara, and Heraklion town. Expect an exhilarating experience throughout this journey.
Given the trip’s exclusive nature for experienced paddlers, the briefing will focus on providing an overview of the journey and ensuring safety in rough waters. The area often experiences strong katabatic winds (offshore) and moderate-sized waves (1.5-2 meters) with short intervals between them. Our route begins at Milatos village and heads towards Aforesmenos cape. After reaching the cape, we will make our first stop, which will also serve as our lunch break. This section spans approximately 15 km without any landing spots. The landscape is stunning, featuring picturesque cliffs, a rugged coastline, and breathtaking views of eastern Crete. Following the lunch break, we will continue paddling towards the island of Spinalonga. Depending on the time available, we may make a quick stop before returning to the shore near Elounda.
Suitable Season: This tour is exclusively available from November to the end of March.
Transportation is provided for clients located in Heraklion. In certain cases, we may be able to arrange pick-ups from other locations along our route.
