Be the first to review “Sea Kayak North East Paros”
Discover the captivating North East part of the island, an enticing destination for sea kayaking enthusiasts. This region forms a remarkable peninsula that expands at its tip, offering ideal conditions for a full-day circumnavigation trip, taking advantage of favorable wind conditions. Even in less than ideal wind conditions, there are various route variations available, ensuring an exciting adventure.
Our sea kayaking journey begins in the enchanting turquoise waters of Filizi on the eastern part of the peninsula. As we paddle along, we encounter the renowned Santa Maria beach, along with its smaller counterpart, Mikri Santa Maria. Leaving behind the bustling waters of the bay, we navigate across the rugged coastline, where lucky observers may catch a glimpse of the magnificent Peregrine Falcons that reside there.
Our path leads us to the captivating Zevlogiani bay, where remnants of an ancient shipyard serve as reminders of the island’s rich maritime heritage. Just off the coast, a cluster of islets beckons us for exploration, offering a habitat for a diverse array of seabirds such as Sea Gulls, Cormorants, and, depending on the season, Little Egrets. Continuing our journey, we arrive at the scenic Platia Ammos beach, a broad sandy stretch facing north, making it susceptible to the prevailing summer Northern winds known as the ‘Meltemia’. Leaving behind the small island of Ghaidouronisi, we venture alongside the awe-inspiring cliffs that guard the entrance to the expansive Naousa bay.
During the final stretch of our kayaking adventure, we immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of Lageri, a picturesque bay boasting crystal-clear turquoise waters, a fine sandy beach, and a backdrop of sand dunes and salt-tolerant vegetation. Our chosen route may determine the specific spots where we take breaks and enjoy the surroundings.
Depending on the selected route and prevailing wind conditions, our day trip can last between 4 to 6 hours. Approximately half of this time is dedicated to leisurely paddling at a relaxed pace, while the remaining time is reserved for unwinding on the beach, swimming, snorkeling, and indulging in a delightful snack or lunch.
